The Art department offers grade 9 and 10 visual art at the open level. Grade 11 visual art at the open and college level as well as an Arts and Crafts course at the grade 11 open level.  Art work is regularly displayed around the school as well as at the public library.

Drama courses include grade 9 through 12 at the open level and upon special request a grade 12 course at the college level can be accommodated.  The drama department regularly produces a series of one-act plays that are open to the public and are involved in the major theatre productions that take place in each semester.

Music classes at ELSS are offered at the open level in grade 9 and 10, and at the college/university level in grade 11 and 12.  Students can also take a guitar course when they are in grade 11. There is also a grade 11 credit granted for participation in the ELSS Concert Band. Opportunities in music include participation in the Northern Ontario Music Festival in Sudbury each year as well as participation at MusicFest Canada. Each year the ELSS Band performs at the Christmas and spring concerts as well as many other school functions.

Students are encouraged to take an arts course each year in secondary school, however only one arts credit in required for an Ontario Secondary School Diploma.
