Department Head: Mr. D. Hanna
The Mathematics Department offers a full range of courses
that lead to the World of Work, College Programs or University Programs. When
course selection numbers are not sufficient to provide a formal class setting,
independent study courses are available for most mathematics courses. Individual
help is available every day after school and/or at lunch for any mathematics
student. The Department, along with Senior Elementary Teachers and ELSS
Administration strive to place each student at the most appropriate level as
early as possible, to allow for the building of confidence and for future
success.The Grade Seven, Eight
and Nine Program has consistently produced results from the EQAO assessment,
administered at the end of grade nine, that are among the highest in the Board
and province.
Individually, many ELSS mathematics
students have earned medals and/or certificates for their results in several
contests administered by the Department.
Please see the Links provided for
individual course strands and expectations, EQAO sample questions and
information and previous University of Waterloo contests, including solutions.
